ANDO BLAMES DUTCH FOR “KILLING THE DODO” AFTER MENZIES LUGGAGE SCARE

GARY ANDERSON jokingly blamed the Dutch for wiping out the DODO after Cameron Menzies’ luggage vanished ahead of the World Cup.
Scotland reached the semi-final at the major event before being beaten 8-3 by a rampant England.
But two-time world champion Anderson admitted he was left sweating when Menzies’ baggage arrived on the morning of their opening match at Frankfurt.
Menzies revealed his suitcase failed to arrive after travelling via Schiphol Airport, prompting Anderson to worry over whether his partner would even have his darts in time.
Anderson told Viaplay: “I was nervous this morning when his suitcase hadn’t arrived. Oh, I was nervous.”
Menzies replied: “Gary texts me twice a year. He text me twice that day, I knew he was nervous!
“My suitcase didn’t arrive last night from Schiphol. But it arrived this morning and Gary was texting me for an update.”
Anderson then aimed a tongue-in-cheek dig at the Dutch airline.
He responded: “I’m not being funny, it is that KLM, terrible.
“Listen, you killed the dodos, made them extinct and you lose suitcases.
“That’s it, you are done! That is a joke by the way. It is Scottish banter.”
The dodo, native to Mauritius, was driven to extinction in the 17th century through a combination of hunting, habitat loss and invasive species introduced by Dutch ships.
World No.11 Anderson and Menzies bounced back in style, thrashing Norway 8–0 in round two after the earlier drama, before continuing their impressive form with an 8–5 victory over the Republic of Ireland.
