ASPINALL TARGETS SECOND US DARTS MASTERS TITLE

NATHAN ASPINALL is aiming to make it a stars-and-stripes double as he bids to reclaim the US Darts Masters title in New York this weekend.
The former champ – who lifted the trophy back in 2019 when the World Series event was held in Las Vegas – heads to Madison Square Garden in red-hot form.
World No. 6 Aspinall has won two European Tour titles and reached the quarter-final of all three televised-ranked majors this year.
Stockport thrower Aspinall is hungry to get his hands back on the US silverware.
He said: “Normally Kirsty is with me but I’m on my own so it’s a bit different than previous years.
“But I think I’m going to be more focused on the tournament itself than previous years which hopefully means I go and win it.”
The Professional Darts Corporation recently announced a partnership with NBC Sports to stream select events live on Peacock in America.
Aspinall hopes the deal will grow the sport and add more exposure to the game in the United States.
He added: “Hopefully this new deal with Peacock can get a new audience watching it and get a few people watching thinking that looks really good, that looks really fun and get a few youngsters playing.”
Two-times major winner Aspinall came within a whisker of making the final at the Nordic Darts Masters earlier this month – just missing out after a narrow defeat to Stephen Bunting.
The 33-year-old is brimming with confidence and believes he’s playing some of the best darts of his career.
He revealed: “I played really well last week in Copenhagen nearly had Bunting, maybe if I hadn’t missed that double four I would’ve won that.
“But I’m happy with where my darts are at and where my head is.
“Go and win this weekend it’s just another confidence boost looking forward to the ranking events.”
