ASPINALL URGES FANS TO STOP WHISTLING

NATHAN ASPINALL urged fans to stop whistling at the European Darts Open.
Stockport ace Aspinall battled past Bradley Brooks in a tense second-round clash at the Ostermann-Arena.
‘The Asp’ fought back from 3-1 down and landed a 132 checkout in a 6-4 win — despite missing 12 match darts.
Two-time major winner Aspinall admitted a few disruptive whistles from the crowd risked spoiling the contest in Leverkusen.
He said: “Initially the match was really good and competitive.
“After that it went s***.
“The support I got here was absolutely mega.
“But yet again there is a few absolute idiots that whistle all the time and it effected Brad.
“I think Brad had a dart at double to make it 5-5 and then there were whistles on his throw.
“Stop whistling! Just watch the darts.
“It annoys us players. You pay your money to watch the darts. I’ve said it before.
“They’ve whistled a few times on my match darts.
“But apart from that I had fantastic support from a brilliant crowd.”
World No. 9 Aspinall had a stellar 2025 as he won his maiden Euro Tour title at the European Darts Trophy in February.
Stockport ace Aspinall also made two more finals on the ProTour at Players Championship 13 and the International Darts Open.
