BUNTING HITS BACK AT SICK ONLINE ABUSE AFTER INJURY HIT LOSS

STEPHEN BUNTING has blasted vile online trolls after he was sent a wave of insults following his World Grand Prix exit.

World No. 4 Bunting was knocked out of the major after losing 3-1 to Danny Noppert in round two at the Mattioli Arena.

‘The Bullet’ revealed he played through a nasty back injury that hampered his performance in Leicester.

Bunting was then hit by sick abuse from social media bullies, which he shared on his Facebook.

Some of the comments included trolls saying “just die motherf***er” and “f***ing fat clown”.

St Helens thrower Bunting has hit out at the vile comments, saying: “Losing doesn’t deserve this much abuse. So sad to see.”

Former Masters champ Bunting admits his back problem affected his ability to score and find rhythm at the oche.

The 40-year-old tried to stretch out the ailment but insisted that doing so only exacerbated the issue.

He wrote on X: “Back so sore. Couldn’t force my darts up. Tried stretching and just made it worse.

“How I won so many legs I don’t know.

“The crowd knew I was in pain.

“Pity the social media full of negativity. Well done to Danny you played well.”

The problem has arisen since Bunting completed a rare feat that only Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen have achieved.

Bunting has enjoyed a stunning 2025 in which he became the third player to win two Players Championships, two European Tour titles, and two World Series events.
