CADBY CHARGED WITH BURGLARY

COREY CADBY has been found guilty of aggravated burglary.

Former world youth champ Cadby was convicted by a jury in Australia’s Supreme Court in Burnie following a violent break-in at his uncle’s home.

The 30-year-old stood trial over an early-morning raid on the Elizabeth Town property which left his uncle Dean Smart with a fractured skull.

The Sun newspaper are reporting that the jury found Cadby guilty of entering the home with two other men.

But Cadby was not convicted of the assault that left Smart with a fractured skull.

Smart and his wife told the court they recognised Cadby’s voice and posture during the break-in.

However, the jury was not satisfied; Cabdy was the person who struck the blow while Smart lay in bed.

Cadby was once seen as one of the sport’s biggest rising stars.

‘King’ won the 2016 World Youth Championship and famously beat Phil Taylor at just 21, putting him firmly on the global darts map.

Melbourne thrower Cadby reached the final of the 2018 UK Open on debut, losing to Gary Anderson, and looked destined for the top before visa issues derailed his career.

Cadby’s chaotic reputation led to comparisons with football maverick Mario Balotelli, whose off-field controversies often overshadowed his talent.

He briefly returned in 2023 when he regained his PDC Tour Card at Q-School, but he never made a full comeback and soon lost the card again.

In a candid interview last year, Cadby admitted he had reached a dark place as his career collapsed.

He said: “I did let a lot of people down at the end and I’m totally ashamed of that.

“Each day was so hard and that obviously led to alcohol. I was never one bit happy, I was actually depressed every day.

“I didn’t want to wake up and to be honest, there was thoughts of suicide on my mind.”
