CHISNALL ADMITS HE WAS “LOOKING MISERABLE” BEFORE MINDSET SHIFT

DAVE CHISNALL admitted he had been looking “miserable” on stage before a mindset shift helped him rediscover his confidence.
Chizzy ended his European Tour hoodoo by reaching the last 16 of an event for the first time this season at the Baltic Sea Open.
The world No26 came from 4-3 down to beat Joe Cullen 6-4 in Kiel, winning three legs on the spin to seal victory.
The St Helens thrower was clinical when it mattered most, pinning six of his 11 attempts at double and averaging 92.44.
Chisnall has struggled for form as of late and last reached a major quarter-final back in 2024 at the World Masters.
But Chisnall revealed he had put in extra work at home and arrived in Germany believing he could make an impact.
He said: “I played alright, there were some slack darts but that is what I have been doing all year.
“I felt good this week coming into it as well. I felt really confident in my own game.
“I have actually now put a little bit of time in at home practising. I said to the boys last night I have a good chance here.
“I am feeling very positive.”
Chisnall also revealed advice from his manager Roger helped change the way he approached matches on stage.
He added: “It’s like my manager Roger said to me, when I play darts I’m looking miserable. I am not happy.
“It’s probably because of my performances but today I felt good and I gave myself a little bit of belief and be happy up here.
“That is what worked to be fair. My doubles were good. I was a bit dodgy on the scoring but that is how it is.
“I got the job done and I am here on Sunday.”
