DAVE CHISNALL is determined to rediscover his winning touch as he prepares to take on Ricky Evans at the European Darts Trophy.

World No. 9 Chisnall managed just one win at the Players Championship Seven and Eight in Hildesheim.

The 44-year-old’s sole victory in Germany came against Chris Landman where he hit a brilliant 121 checkout and averaged 82.61 to win 6-3.

‘Chizzy’ has only made the quarter-final of the Belgium Open and Players Championship Two this year.

However, the six-time major finalist remains confident that his form will return soon.

He told Kwiff: “I won one game in Hildesheim, and it was a disappointing trip. It just isn’t happening at the moment, and when I was asked to summarise my recent form to a reporter I gave a four letter word that I can’t write in here!

“It will come back, I know it will, but it’s just frustrating when the darts aren’t going where they could and should be.

“I’m still catching the flight in my periphery vision when about to throw and it’s still really off-putting.

“I’ve tried working on my throw, but it’s too distinct and my snatch for example just can’t be shrugged off. It’s what has done me well for the last 10+ years, so I’ve got to persevere with.”

Chisnall faces Ricky Evans in round two of the European Darts Trophy at Göttingen.

The St Helens ace beat ‘Rapid’ 10-9 in their only meeting this year in the UK Open fourth round and is expecting another tough yet enjoyable battle.

He added: “I’m sick of facing Ricky now lol! That’s a joke before people try to use for clickbait! He played well to beat Barney last night, and I know he’ll be primed when playing me later today.

“We always have good matches with together – he’s a good lad and a great mate.

“I like playing against Ricky because there’s no messing, it’s throw your darts, best man win and shake hands at the end. Fingers crossed it’s me who advances.”

With a potential matchup against former European Champion Ross Smith in the third round, Chisnall is aware that there are no easy games at this level.

He admitted: “Ross Smith in the next round. There are no easy games at this level, and you need to be on it before every leg.

“I just need that one big performance, or one big run to kick-off my season. I’m sure it’s just around the corner, and I just need to keep the faith. Wish me luck!”

Chisnall thrives on the European Tour having picked up a remarkable six titles over the last three years.
