ROB CROSS has vowed that he’s not frightened of the lethal Lukes because they are not “Gods”.

The former World Champion takes on Luke Humphries in week five of the Premier League in Brighton tonight (Thursday).

‘Voltage’, 34, has revealed that the two top superstars of the sport are beatable and he reckons he can raise his game to challenge for titles.

He said: “I’m definitely not scared of playing Littler or Humphries. They are great guys and at the top of their game right now.

“But they aren’t Gods, they can be beaten. Humphries lost in the UK Open, Littler lost in the Masters. It’s not like they are unstoppable is it?

“At this moment they are winning the majority of titles between them. But it’s not like the days of Phil Taylor when no one could get near him. Michael van Gerwen also went through a stage of being unplayable.

“I think it’s up to me to prove what I can do. I’m my own worst enemy. I need to be more robust in matches when I can.

“It’s all about consistency and timing. We are all capable of beating each other. The Lukes just do that more often than the rest of us.

“Fair play to both of them. They are dominating and they deserve every bit of success.

“It’s just up to myself, MVG, Gerwyn Price, Nathan Aspinall to be better. We have the ability obviously. It’s just getting the results.”

Cross also revealed Scottish mentors Rab Bain and mentor Jim Walker are adding more steel to his game.

He added: “I think they want more to drink more Irn-Bru. But seriously they want me to be more ruthless and they are right.

“They are no-nonsense characters who want to install that into my game. It’s definitely getting there.”
