DARTS ACE SAYS HUMPHRIES IS AN ‘ANONYMOUS’ WORLD NO.1

LUKE HUMPHRIES has been branded the “most anonymous world No.1” despite scooping yet another Euro Tour title.
‘Cool Hand Luke’ landed the Czech Darts Open crown last weekend after beating Josh Rock in the final.
But while Humphries keeps stacking up trophies, many believe he still lacks the superstar shine of rival Luke Littler.
Former UK Open finalist Vincent Van der Voort reckons Humphries often finds himself overlooked compared to the reigning World Champ Littler.
He said: “What I thought was great about this victory is that he didn’t play very well at all… but did the right things at the right moments.
“Then you see why he is number one in the world.
“I think he is the most anonymous number one in the world. It reminds me of the time when Colin Lloyd was on top, but everyone knew that Taylor was actually the best.
“With Humphries now, it’s often about Littler. The hype revolves around him, and therefore it is almost forgotten that Humphries is the real number one.”
Cheshire thrower Humphries added both the World Masters and Premier League to his major trophy cabinet this year.
Humphries then had a slight dip in form after crashing out of the World Cup and Matchplay at the first hurdle.
However, the 30-year-old bounced back in fine fashion at Prague last week by picking up his 12th ProTour title.
