DOBEY NEWCASTLE INSPIRED WALK-ON HITS RIGHT NOTE!

07/06/2025 By Aaron Nijjar

CHRIS DOBEY admits his new Newcastle-inspired walk-on song is giving him a huge boost on the oche.

‘Hollywood’ averaged 90.25 and hammered in three 180s to see off Jeffrey de Graaf 6-2 in the first round of the Nordic Darts Masters.

Former Masters champ Dobey previously used ‘Let’s Get Ready to Rumble’ by PJ & Duncan as his entrance music.

But the Bedlington thrower now walks out to ‘Hey Jude’ by The Beatles.

Newcastle United supporters often sing the song sometimes with a modified “Hey Toon” lyric during their games and celebrations.

World No. 7 Dobey admitted he was delighted fans at the World Series event loved the walk-on.

He said: “I feel like I needed a change. I’ve looked for a long time now.

“It’s something that makes the crowd happy now and it’s a well-known song.

“And it resonates with Newcastle.

“It’s the song that Newcastle United fans sing.

“It does mean a lot that way as well and it’s got something from the North-East to take with it.

“So yeah, it’s done well both times I have used it so long may it continue.

“At the end of the day it’s all about the fans — they’re paying their money and deserve to enjoy it.”

Dobey is aiming to stick around on the World Series after finally getting the call-up.

He added: “I’ve sat at home the last five years watching it at home.

“You want to be mixing it with these guys. Now I am here I have to put the work in to stay here.

“Hopefully I can get my win this weekend or the next couple of wins to cement my spot.”

The 35-year-old is working hard behind the scenes in a bid to return to the Premier League next year.

He revealed: “I feel like I have a lot of energy. I am trying to slim down and lose a bit of weight.

“But yeah I love the Premier League and the travelling.

“It is tough at times but you want to be playing among the elite.

“I am trying to cement my place there.

“I’m going to try and get myself a little fitter to hopefully push myself up the rankings to be there again next year.”

Dobey returns to action tonight and will face Rob Cross in the quarter-finals at Copenhagen.
