DOBEY WINS DESPITE SNEAKY LIVERPOOL PRANK!

CHRIS DOBEY was fuming after being stitched up by Jonny Clayton with a sneaky prank — but it might just become his new lucky charm.
‘Hollywood’ edged out Germany’s Niko Springer 6-5 in round two of the European Darts Open after trailing 4-1 in Leverkusen.
World No. 7 Dobey fired in five 180s and averaged 91.27 on the way to pulling off a sensational comeback.
But the Newcastle United fan was shocked to find he’d unknowingly walked on stage with a Liverpool FC dart flight in his setup — thanks to some cheeky mischief from Welsh star Clayton.
Commentator Dan Dawson revealed: “Jonny Clayton unbeknown to Chris Dobey snuck a Liverpool football club darts flight into his case without him knowing.
“Dobey only found this out when he was up on stage.
“Immediately he had to cover it up with a towel in case the cameras picked up on it.
“But the thing is he won the game coming back from 4-1 down.
“He has to keep it as a superstition!
“He was not happy about it.”
Bedlington thrower Dobey watched his beloved Magpies beat Liverpool 2-1 in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley earlier this year.
Dobey described the winning occasion as “one of the best feelings in the world” as Newcastle ended their 56-year trophy drought.
He said: “I’ve got two kids, but that was still one of the best feelings in the world! We’ve been in finals, but not been getting there.
“To do it against the best team around, it always tops it off.
“I do remember everything from Wembley. I had to do a bit at BOXPARK with the ex-pros on stage, get the atmosphere.
“It was a great feeling before the game.
“Then to the match sitting in with the fans. It was such a buzz all around.
“What a win. I came straight back home on the night. I made sure I came back, I couldn’t be away that long!”
Former Masters Champ Dobey started 2025 in red-hot form by reaching the final of Players Championship Two and winning Event Three.
Dobey then suffered a dip in form but roared back by winning Night 11 of the Premier League in Rotterdam.
The 34-year-old followed this up by reaching the quarter-final of the Austrian Darts Open last month.
