BRENDAN DOLAN believes Luke Littler will not win as many titles as the legendary Phil Taylor.

Teen sensation Littler became the youngest World champion and Premier League winner at just 17-years-old.

And ‘The History Maker’ acknowledged Littler’s immense talent.

But Dolan admitted the modern game is far more competitive than when 85-time major winner Taylor dominated the sport in the early 2000s.

He told Tungsten Tales: “I do believe Luke Littler is at that same level as Phil Taylor.

“But Littler will not win as much as Taylor did.

“In the early 2000s, to play against Phil, it was like ‘good luck’ with that.

“Luke Littler and Luke Humphries are at the same level as Taylor, but nowadays you know you can win. It’s not a given to you.

“That’s the way I feel. If I was at the standard I am now back in the early 2000s, I definitely would have given Phil a run for his money.

“I’m not saying I would have beaten him all the time! However, I wouldn’t have the record I have against him now—I think it’s 17-1 to Taylor. It’s not good.”

World No. 34 Dolan made the semi-final of the Players Championship Nine in Leicester this Monday before losing 7-0 to Gerwyn Price.

Dolan took out a stellar 122 checkout and averaged over 100 to edge Dutchman Patrick Geeraets 6-5 in round three.

Former World Grand Prix finalist Dolan secured an impressive victory over James Wade in the last 16 where he averaged 100.69 to win 6-3 and then beat Andrew Gilding 6-2 in the quarter-finals.

The Northern Irish thrower returns to action next Tuesday on the ProTour at the Players Championship 11 in Leicester.
