DAMON HETA achieved a perfect nine-dart finish against Luke Woodhouse at the World Championship but is still awaiting his share of the prize money from bookmaker Paddy Power.
‘The Heat’ returned to action last night at the Winmau World Masters in Milton Keynes, defeating former European champion Ross Smith 3-1, but Heta revealed post-match he is still waiting for the £60,000 prize money promised by Paddy Power for his nine-darter at Ally Pally.
Paddy Power had promised a total of £180,000 for any perfect legs during the World Championship, to be divided equally between the player, Prostate Cancer UK, and a fortunate audience member.
Heta humorously said: “Paddy Power has been slow to pay and make sure you get that out there. They’re Irish aren’t they.
“It could be a bit dodgy I don’t know! But we just roll with what we got at the moment until the dollars come through mate.”
The Aussie was in fine form yesterday, taking two sets in a row against Ross Smith and sealing a 105 checkout along the way to wrap up the victory.
World No.8 Heta will now face former World Champion Gerwyn Price in the second round of the World Masters.
