HUMPHRIES EYES DREAM MATCH WITH LEWIS IN MAJOR FINAL

LUKE HUMPHRIES has revealed he would love to face Adrian Lewis in a major final.
World No.1 Humphries has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past 18 months, lifting SEVEN major titles and toppling some of the sport’s biggest names enroute including Michael van Gerwen and Luke Littler.
But ‘Cool Hand’ says his dream opponent in a big final is two-time World Champion Lewis — the man who first inspired him to pick up a set of darts.
He told the Weekly Dartscast: “The only one I would have really loved to share the stage with in a big final is Adrian Lewis.
“He has always been my favourite player and I’ve always loved him.
“He is someone that I get along with really well.”
‘Jackpot’ in April 2023 announced that he would be stepping away from the oche.
However, the Stoke-on-Trent thrower has now confirmed his comeback with the Modus Super Series and has appeared in exhibition events throughout this year.
Despite the break, Humphries believes Lewis could still make a winning return to the top of the sport — and hopes their paths will still cross in a title decider.
He added: “For me I still think there is a possibility that it could happen one day because I’ve been doing exhibitions with him and he’s just still playing so lovely.
“He is just enjoying darts at the moment and nobody is going to pressure him to come back but he still throws a dart so well.
“I do think there is still a lot of unfinished business for him in darts whether he comes back or he don’t who knows.
“But I think he will one day, and I think there is still a few more major titles left in him.
“So, I would love to share the final stage with him.”
The 30-year-old also revealed that legend Gary Anderson is another opponent he’d love to battle with in a major final.
He said: “Or of course Gary Anderson.
“They would be the two left that I would love to have a major final with in the Worlds or something like that.
“It would be really special.”
