LUKE HUMPHRIES has hit back at a fan who accused the world number one of being past his prime.

‘Cool Hand’ was beaten 6-1 by Luke Littler in the Night Eight final of the Premier League at Newcastle this Thursday.

Afterwards the fan in question wrote on Facebook: “Humphries prime has truly been and gone, when he loses World Number One spot I reckon we’re gonna see him slowly but gradually fall down the rankings.”

Former World champion Humphries responded: “I’ve literally won two of the last four majors you wally!

“Couple of bad weeks don’t define you. Remember this happened last year the start of the year and look how it ended.”

Despite losing to Littler in just over 10 minutes, Humphries has had a stellar 2025 campaign.

The Cheshire thrower currently sits second in the Premier League with two nightly wins and is five points ahead of Michael van Gerwen who is in third.

Seven-time major winner Humphries won the World Masters and has reached the final of the Players Championship Six.

And remarkably Humphries is still hungry for more success this year.

He said: “It’s frustrating for myself. I’ve only won one big stage title this year [so far], the last few years it’s been going better than that.

“I want to prove something for myself.”
