MITCHELL LAWRIE says the Lakeside stage “feels like home” after marching into the quarter-finals of the WDF World Championship.
Scottish sensation Lawrie delivered another assured display, defeating Jeff Springer Jr 3-0 with a 93.06 average, dropping only one leg and allowing the American just five darts at a double.
The 15-year-old’s win came only hours after he also competed in the WDF Boys’ World Championship, where he beat Hungary’s Adam Sepsi 2-0 to reach the semi-finals.
After two victories in one day, Lawrie joked that he planned to celebrate in familiar fashion.
He said: “I think I’m going to go get a Chinese again. That Chinese was brilliant! Salt & pepper chicken, salt & pepper chips and spring rolls!
“And sweet and sour sauce. Honestly, it was unreal. I might go again.”
Lawrie faces Francois Schweyen on Friday with a spot in the senior semi-finals on the line.
He added: “He’s played on Euro Tour stages, he’s got a lot of experience again. I’m sure we’ll put on a show.
“I feel like home up on that stage. I believe in my own ability, and I’m very confident in myself.”
Before that, he faces close friend Kaya Baysal in the Boys’ World Championship semi-final tomorrow afternoon – with a playful bet adding extra interest.
He continued: “There’s a lot at stake. If I win, he needs to shave his moustache, If he wins, I need to give him £20!”
