CAMERON MENZIES described his defeat to Rob Cross in the Players Championship Finals as “honking”.
The Ayrshire ace was KO’d 6-3 by the former world champ in the opening round in Minehead on Friday.
Menzies, 34, missed a stack of checkout chances to break the Cross throw and paid the price with defeat.
He said: “This has actually destroyed me. I’ve tried so hard all year to go and do this. Gutted. Honking.”
Cross was quick to concede that he was fortunate Menzies missed big chances to break his throw on two occasions.
He said: “Cammy didn’t play there. I had a chat with him afterwards. I’m not going to repeat what he said.
When Cam turns up he can do great things. He’s a dangerous player, he’s here on merit.
“I sort of got away with one. I had a couple of decent legs when I needed them.”
