Bunting backs Littler to surpass Taylor and become darts’ greatest ever
Published 8 September 2026
STEPHEN BUNTING believes Luke Littler will end his career as the greatest player in darts history.
The world No9 believes Littler’s influence goes far beyond his incredible trophy haul since bursting onto the scene as a 16-year-old.
Littler, 19, has already won 30 PDC titles in just over two years as a professional and is the THIRD most successful player in the sport.
But it is his impact away from the oche that has really underlined his growing status as the biggest star to ever grace the stage.
Bunting told Sky Sports: “I do. I think he has got a lot more to give the sport.
“A lot more world titles. I don’t think he’ll win as many as Phil [Taylor] to be fair.
“The standard of play now is a lot better than it was in Phil’s day.
“Phil literally did dominate. But for someone now who has literally changed our sport.
“He’s brought the demographic of the sport down.
“Everyone is watching the sport. If you ask people who a dart player is they will all say Luke Littler now.
“That is how powerful his name is.”
The Nuke has taken his profile well beyond chucking arrows, starring on Gogglebox, The Jonathan Ross Show and A League of Their Own while also joining streams with Angry Ginge.
Littler has featured on the Sidecast YouTube podcast and now has his own Netflix show, Beat Luke Littler.
Phil Taylor remains the benchmark for success after winning a record 87 major titles during his legendary career.
But Littler has the complete package, combining phenomenal talent with the ability to attract a younger and wider audience to the sport, which could see him overtake The Power as the GOAT.
