EVANS CONTINUES ARTHRITIS BATTLE THANKS TO GIRLFRIEND

Published 5 July 2026

RICKY EVANS has revealed his girlfriend is helping him combat his arthritis and issues with his feet, legs and arms.

The quickfire Kettering thrower continues to chase his first big title in the sport.

But Evans, 35, has been battling all sorts of ailments over recent months and the heartbreaking loss of his sister Elisha, who tragically passed away suddenly in early March 2025.

However, he’s found a new soul mate in partner Shane who is helping him strive for glory.

He revealed to Oche180: “I always used to not read stories of people saying how their partners are a part of their key to success and stuff like that.

“My girlfriend Sharne, she’s amazing. I do struggle with a bit of arthritis and problems with my feet, legs and arms. She's trying to combat that, giving me advice and getting me appointments.

“She doesn’t have to. I think she just wants the best for me and vice versa, I want the best for her and that's why I want to win even more.

“I’m getting emotional here but it’s good. She’s great for me and she loves darts as well which is a good thing.

“It’s lovely to have her on my side and I’ve got great parents as well. I wouldn't be playing darts if it wasn’t for them.

“It’ll be nice to give something back one day, that’s why I always get emotional at Ally Pally.”

The World No.48 is back in action in the Players Championship in Leicester this week and admits he won’t give up the game as he continually bids for a big title.

He added: “I go to these ProTours and I get downbeat when I lose. I get a 97 average and I’m like ‘what’s the point’.

“I’ve got to keep going, keep focusing. Some days I do get sad about myself. Then I realise there’s another day tomorrow.

“There’s going to be a good day. Like in Leicester next week, a semi-final there. That could be 'I love darts again'.

“There’s so many good darts players these days. You can have 97 averages and lose.

“I’m not going to throw it in or give it up anytime soon. If I fall off the tour, who cares?

“You’ll have to drag me off stage if I lose my tour card.”
