Gerwyn Price reveals preparation blunder after beating Scott Williams in Dutch Darts Championship clash
Published 17 October 2026
GERWYN PRICE was glad to finally hit the right notes in Maastricht after forgetting his AirPods.
The Welsh No.1 found enough rhythm to drown out the threat of Scott Williams with a 6-3 win at the Dutch Darts Championships.
But, after his victory over Shaggy, the former World Champion explained that a loss of pre-match music didn't help his build-up to the clash.
Price stated the importance of preferred preparation as he explained: "It's only the little things. I like to listen to a bit of music and chill out while I'm practising, forgot my AirPods and I'm sat there listening to everybody talking and it's different.
"I said to my missus: I don't feel right. I don't feel comfortable and I don't feel like I'm ready. And it showed. So, if I don't prepare right, I'm not the best version of me. So, tomorrow, I am going to buy some headphones and I'm going to prepare a little bit better. Today just felt a little bit weird and I'm just glad to get through the game."
Price will now meet Niels Zonneveld in the last 16 of the competition and believes he is in a good place as he gets set for a title tilt on Sunday.
He said: "I'm in some good form. Obviously, that game there, just forget about that one. A win's a win, but I'm in some good form to win some good tournaments, some big tournaments and this is a stepping stone for that.
"So with a great crowd like today, yeah it's massive, great atmosphere. They were good for me and for Scott today, which is good. Hopefully, they'll be all for me tomorrow."
