Greaves lands £1m eye insurance after historic year on the oche
Published 30 July 2026
BEAU GREAVES has had her eyes insured for a staggering £1million.
The women’s world No1 has teamed up with Specsavers to protect the most important part of her game after an incredible year of breakthroughs.
Greaves, 22, claimed her THIRD Women’s World Matchplay crown on Sunday after edging past Fallon Sherrock 6-5 in a tense final at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens.
The victory capped a historic run for Beau ’N’ Arrow, who won a PDC Tour Card, became the first woman to win a ProTour title, hit a nine-darter and qualified for a European Tour event.
She now joins a growing list of sporting and entertainment stars to insure a valuable body part.
Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo, 41, previously insured his legs for £114million, while pop superstar Miley Cyrus, 33, covered her tongue for £1million due to its importance to her image.
Greaves highlighted the importance of her vision being pivotal when playing on the oche.
She said: “I’m really proud to have won the Women’s World Matchplay for a third time. It was a tough final and matches like that come down to the finest of margins.
“In darts, having clear, reliable vision is a huge part of performing at your best. Partnering with Specsavers feels like a natural fit because my eyesight is such a big part of my game, so it makes sense to protect it.”
New research revealed 78 per cent of people understand the importance of good eyesight in sport.
But, 49 per cent admitted they would rather replace a broken mobile phone than book a health appointment, such as an eye test.
Specsavers’ brand partnerships and sponsorships lead Neil Liddle explained the reason behind the unusual move.
He said: “When you’re aiming for targets just millimetres wide, your eyesight isn’t just important, it’s everything.
“Yet while people recognise the importance of good vision, many are still putting other priorities ahead of looking after their eyes.
“By insuring Beau’s eyes, we want to remind everyone, not just elite athletes, to value and protect their vision by making regular eye tests a priority.”
