Littler’s dream clean sweep is over after shock World Series Finals exit
Published 20 September 2026
LUKE LITTLER’S dream PDC major clean sweep is over after he crashed out of the World Series Finals to Jonny Clayton.
The World No.1 went down by 10-4 to the Welshman in the quarter-finals in Amsterdam.
The Nuke, 19, was KO'd by a wonderful display from The Ferret which ended his record hopes of winning all the majors in 2026.
Littler had won the World Championship, Masters, UK Open, Premier League and World Matchplay. But he never looked in top gear during the World Series over the past two nights.
It was the first time Littler had been beaten in a major for 335 days. His last defeat was to James Wade in the European Championship on October 25, 2025.
Littler had darts to win 10 legs but only won four against Clayton.
Just like the night before against Aspinall, it wasn’t vintage Littler and Clayton levelled it up at 3-3 before the first break with a wonderful 136 finish.
The Nuke found himself in trouble yet again as Clayton moved up a gear to lead 5-3 with double eight.
Littler then took out a big 129 on the bull to stop the rot but it was soon 6-4 as Clayton finished 62 in clinical fashion.
After yet more missed doubles from Littler, then came the Welshman’s signature 121 kill on bull to take control and lead 7-4.
Clayton kept up the pressure with a tops finish to go further in front at 8-4 and leave Littler on the ropes.
Littler suffered several more doubles and Clayton moved to 9-4 in front and the Welshman finished the job with tops.
