Littler wins brand new award and targets Taylor’s records after revealing what drives him

LUKE LITTLER says he is chasing “titles” rather than money as he sets his sights on breaking more of Phil Taylor’s incredible records.

The world No1 was honoured for becoming the youngest-ever world champion at the Sport Bild ceremony in Germany last night, where he picked up the award.

Littler, 19, lifted the Sid Waddell Trophy for the first time in 2025 at just 17, beating Michael van Gerwen 7-3 in the final.

The Nuke has now won an astonishing 14 major titles, with only Van Gerwen and Taylor ahead of him.

Littler revealed silverware remains his biggest motivation despite becoming the first £3million player in the sport.

He told Bild: “It’s darts, you are on your own against everyone. What keeps me going is just titles.

“I always see it’s about the money, it’s about the money. It is about the titles.

“Look at what Phil Taylor achieved over many years. I’m still only 19 so hopefully within the next 30 years, if I can be bothered, then I’ll break some more records.

“I have just got to keep going. I have had some days off and it has been great to get some rest.”

Littler has already made three appearances at Ally Pally, winning the last two after losing the final on his debut.

The Warrington thrower is now hoping to one day surpass Taylor’s legendary record of 16 World crowns.

He added: “Hopefully, that is what everyone is talking about. I have been to the World Championship three times.

“I’ve lost one and then I’ve been back-to-back. So I have a very good record but we just have to wait till Christmas, then the party starts.”

Littler is also on the verge of history as he bids to become the first player to complete a clean sweep of all 11 major crowns.

The teen sensation has five titles left to claim: the World Grand Prix, World Series Finals, European Championship, Grand Slam and Players Championship Finals.
