MENZIES TO CELEBRATE HUMPHRIES UPSET WITH A DONKEY RIDE

Published 21 July 2026

CAMERON MENZIES plans to celebrate the biggest win of his career by taking girlfriend Suzanne for a donkey ride in Blackpool.

The Ayshire thrower, 37, admitted he wants to make the most of his day off after sensationally knocking out world No2 Luke Humphries 10-7 in round one of the World Matchplay.

Menzies produced the biggest shock of the tournament with a stunning 170 checkout to seal the deal against Humphries.

Cammy picked up his FIRST televised victory of the season and ended a run of five consecutive defeats to Cool Hand.

The Scot paid tribute to his partner for helping him stay relaxed away from the oche and making life as easy as possible during tournaments.

He said: “It’s so simple, but it means a lot.

“Sometimes we travel a lot and go home. I’ve got to go through the suitcase. I’ve got my own house and she has her own house.

“But in Glasgow, with the train stations and airports, she will pick me up and within ten minutes I am in the house.

“I know it sounds stereotypical saying this, but she is washing the clothes. It is so easy and so simple.

“It is good. She is good in the way we go to the gym together, which is quite surprising, I know.

“Today we went on a walk and had a salad. Those little things mean a lot.

“I was back in the room. The first thing she was doing before makeup was ironing my clothes.

“I didn’t ask her, but she ironed my shirt and trousers.

“It doesn’t usually happen with a woman. It is so simple. I could iron, badly. It would take me about three and a half hours.

“But she can do it in 10 minutes. She got me breakfast and got me ready. So I was throwing on the board while she was ironing.

“Little things like that give you 20 minutes on the practice board. When you are playing, you just want everything to be as easy as possible.”

The world No27 will take on Ross Smith tomorrow evening for a place in the quarter-final at the major event.

But Menzies will now soak up his Winter Gardens fairytale with a seaside treat for Suzanne at Pleasure Beach before his next test.

He added: “I’ll be honest, I don’t even know when I am playing because I never look at the next game.

“So, I think my best mate and his Mrs are going to be back up the road. I might take her for a shot on donkeys.

“The weather has been great. I have been to Blackpool for years. But I will enjoy the moment.

“I will try and win her a teddy. A wee ginger one. I have tried but there is a breeze!”
