Paxton thought Bunting’s Coventry FC promotion celebration was AI

ADAM PAXTON thought he was watching AI when he first saw Stephen Bunting lead Coventry’s wild promotion celebrations.

Former Masters champ Bunting was invited into the Sky Blues’ dressing room to lead a chorus of his famous walk-on song ‘Titanium’ after their famous 3-1 win over Wrexham in April.

The victory sealed the Championship title for Frank Lampard’s men as they secured their return to the Premier League.

Paxton was left stunned by the bizarre sight of Bunting partying alongside the Midland’s club players.

He told Oche180: “Very surprised I thought it was AI. I seen it on all his posts and I'm thinking that's got to be AI, what's he doing there?

“We're at a Pro Tour the next day and I'm thinking we're coming down to Milton Keynes, what's he doing there? He's a Liverpool fan, that's just so random. It was very very weird.

“I asked him yeah, 'what are you doing there? You're a Liverpool fan.'

“He was like a couple of the players are big fans of his and Stephen has taken them to the darts.

“So, he was talking to some of them and got invited down.”

Paxton remains desperate for Coventry to survive after their return to the top flight for the first time since the 2000-01 season.

The World No98 also backed Lampard to remain in charge despite Coventry’s nightmare start which has left them bottom after three straight defeats without scoring.

He added: “It’s not been the easiest start.

“I just want them to stay up. I don’t care how they do it. How many points they get, who they beat or lose to, as long as it is not Aston Villa.

“I don’t see why he would [leave]. He’s done well at Coventry and the fans like him. He has got the backing of the owner. It’s all positive.

“You know what football fans are like, they are very fickle. We lose a few games, then forget we are in the Premier League for the first time in how long.

“Spend a load of money and then they call for the new manager to be sacked. I hope they don’t. I like him.”
