PDC announce new major and inaugural French Euro Tour as 2027 calendar unveiled
Published 25 September 2026
The PDC have announced a new major tournament for the 2027 season to be hosted in Salzburg, Austria.
The European Open will take place a week after the World Cup of Darts from June 18th - June 20th.
Whilst few specific details have been released, PDC CEO Matt Porter suggested to Viaplay last week that it would be similar to the UK Open which is colloquially known as the 'FA Cup of Darts'.
History will also be made with the first-ever French European Tour which will be hosted in Lievin from March 19th - March 21st.
France is a growing market for the sport with successful exhibition events already held in the country and French No.1 Thibault Tricole increasing exposure after reaching the Lakeside final and earning a PDC Tour Card.
The Belgian Darts Open hosted in Wieze will no longer feature on the European Tour to make way for the historic French event.
Following the huge announcement Porter said: “Taking the European Tour to France for the first time is an exciting development for us. We’ve seen the circuit continue to grow into new territories in recent years and we’re looking forward to visiting Lievin in March.
“The introduction of the European Open in Salzburg is another significant addition to the calendar and further strengthens what is already a fantastic schedule of events throughout the year."
The European Championship, the culmination of the European Tour, will return to Dortmund at the end of October and has been expanded to six days from its usual four days.
The Winmau World Masters kicks off the season on January 27th and is the first major of the season followed by the Premier League in Glasgow on February 4th.
Luke Littler will hunt for a third successive World Matchplay in July with the summer spectacle getting underway on July 17th with the final and Women's World Matchplay taking place on July 25th.
Specific dates for the World Darts Championship are yet to be announced.
