ROSS SMITH admits he has “big kahunas” after producing a stunning run to lift the Hungarian Darts Trophy.

The world No15 averaged 101 to defeat Gary Anderson 8-2 in the final and pick up the £30,000 top prize.

Smith, 37, powered past Dave Chisnall 6-2 in the quarter-finals before beating Danny Noppert 7-3 in the last four.

Smudger headed into Budapest on the back of first-round exits at the Australian Masters and New Zealand Masters.

But Smith proved he can handle the pressure on the biggest stage by picking up his FOURTH PDC ranking title of the year in Budapest.

He said: “I feel in a bit of disbelief in a way because I was coming here off the back of two losses on the World Series.

“I’ve just proved to myself I have got big kahunas. Playing Gary, especially, he is a legend.

“To be able to beat Gary, wow. No one wants to lose in the final. I am grateful. I do work hard at it.

“I pinched myself. At the end of the day, I am playing here in front of thousands and thousands of people.

“This is my job. Wow, I am so grateful. It is a pinch myself moment.

“I absolutely love the European Tour. It is my privilege to have this as my job and see the world.

“To be fair, to take my lad sometimes with me.”

Anderson dodged FIVE match darts against Nathan Aspinall before edging him 7-6 in the semi-final.

The two-time world champion is now just £14,500 short of the European Championship cut-off with four events remaining and has also confirmed his place at next week’s Czech Darts Open.

He added: “I made the final and it was sheer luck. It was a gift from the Gods that I got this far.

“Ross has been brilliant throughout the day. I watched him in the second game and he was fantastic.

“I have been to a lot of venues but this is the best venue. I thought Belgium was really good.

“It looks like I am going to Prague next week. I am not young like these boys but I still try.

“We have a few tournaments till we get to the final so I am going to try my damn best.”
