Williams vows to “apologise” to Sedlacek after furious Players Championship reaction

SCOTT WILLIAMS vowed to “apologise” to Karel Sedlacek after his furious reaction to losing the Players Championship 30 final.

The world No52 was beaten 8-7 by Sedlacek in a dramatic decider as the Czech star made history by becoming the first player from his country to win a PDC Pro Tour title.

Williams, 36, threw his darts onto the ground after the match before later insisting his frustration was aimed at himself rather than Evil Charlie.

Shaggy had 112 to win the match, but he stumbled, hitting five on his second dart when a single 20 would have double 16.

The Boston thrower admitted he had been left raging by missing chances to take the £15,000 prize.

He said on Instagram: “Firstly, let me congratulate Karel on the win. That f****** boy, unbelievable bloke. Absolutely deserves the win.

“I am not putting that against him in any way, shape or form. I reacted that way because I was disappointed in myself.

“I was annoyed I missed darts at double. Darts at big numbers. I was really f****** angry about that.

“If you didn’t see, I wasn’t disrespecting Karel. I will speak to Karel when I see him next, apologise and wish him the best.

“But for you guys watching, going, ‘Oh, Scott acted like a p****.’ I just earned ten grand from that. Awesome.

“I just missed darts to potentially win £15,000. Five grand which would secure me a better place in the world.”

Before his run in Den Bosch, Williams had struggled for consistency and was yet to reach a ProTour quarter-final this season.

But Williams has now climbed to 63rd in the Players Championship Finals Order of Merit, putting him in line to compete at Minehead.
