GERWYN PRICE won Night 12 of the Premier League after he beat Luke Humphries 6-4 in the final at Liverpool.

Seven-time major winner Price picked up his THIRD nightly win of the campaign to move into third place.

Humphries hit a brilliant 155 checkout to go 2-1 up in the match.

Price fired back throwing in a 151 finish to level the bout at 3-3 in the M&S Arena.

The Welsh thrower then capitalised on three missed darts at double eight from Humphries in leg seven as he pinned double 16 to take a 4-3 lead.

‘Gezzy’s’ scoring prowess proved too much for Humphries as he averaged 104.43 compared to ‘Cool Hand’s’ 102.

Following his victory Price believed the Merseyside crowd aided his cause to triumph.

He said: “I was under pressure to win my first game and get some vital points on the board  but once I did I settled down and enjoyed myself.

“The crowd were behind me and put Luke off in the [final] but I have had that loads of times in the past. I am happy.”

Price also called for Rotterdam to be taken off the Premier League calendar after complaints of wind draught last week in the venue.

He added: “I am not going to speak about last week but when the conditions are good and it’s a fair game, I play some good darts.

“Sometimes I throw my toys out of the pram when things don’t go my way but I had a reason last week. We don’t deserve to play in those conditions.

“They say we have to play in Rotterdam every year but surely they can find a venue where it is fair for everyone.”

World No. 12 Price now hopes to qualify for finals night.

He admitted: “I just want to make top four. It doesn’t matter whether it’s one, two, three or four as long as I am at the O2 in a few weeks.

“I managed to get five points today and that eases the pressure. I am playing really well so there is no reason I can’t win every week.”

Former World champ Price hit super 128 and 144 checkouts to overcome Chris Dobey 6-2 in their quarter-final clash.

‘The Iceman’ then cruised past Rob Cross 6-2 to reach his FOURTH Premier League final this year.

World No. 1 Humphries averaged a whopping 113 to triumph 6-3 over Nathan Aspinall.

Humphries thumped in a cracking 120 checkout and averaged 98 to beat Michael van Gerwen 6-4 in the last four.

Van Gerwen climbed back off the canvas from 4-0 down to beat Luke Littler 6-5 and progress into the semi-final.

MVG was clinical on the outer ring hitting six out of nine doubles and averaged 95 in victory.

Cross KO’D home favourite Stephen Bunting 6-1 with a stellar 100 average and 75 percent doubles hit.
