Rob Cross stunned the world by winning the PDC World Championship on his debut in 2018, defeating the legendary Phil Taylor in the final. Before turning professional Cross competed in the 2016 UK Open as an amateur Rileys qualifier; making it to the last 32 before falling to Michael van Gerwen. Following this, he competed in the PDC Challenge Tour, winning three of the 16 events and ultimately topping the Order of Merit, consequently earning a Tour Card for the 2017 PDC Pro Tour. Away from darts, Cross was an electrician before his professional breakthrough, which led to his nickname “Voltage.” His journey from working full-time to becoming a world champion remains one of the most inspiring stories in darts history. Despite his laid-back attitude, Cross possesses a steely determination and an ability to perform under immense pressure, often producing clutch checkouts at crucial moments. His efficient throwing style and methodical approach have made him a formidable opponent. The 34-year-old reached a peak ranking of world number two in 2018 and 2019.  Cross has won three other PDC major trophies, a total of 21 PDC titles in his professional career.
