SCHINDLER RAISES BURNOUT FEARS

19/07/2025 By Aaron Nijjar

MARTIN SCHINDLER has warned that the relentless PDC schedule is finally catching up with him.

‘The Wall’ has enjoyed a strong season so far after winning a maiden Players Championship crown in March.

World No. 18 Schindler also picked up TWO Euro Tour titles last year and added another in 2025 after winning the Austrian Darts Open.

But the German thrower admits the mental and physical toll of life on the road is beginning to bite.

He said: “Right now, I’m definitely feeling a lack of energy—physically and mentally.

“I’ve taken on a lot over these six months. We’ve already had nine European Tours and 22 Players Championships—that’s about 70 to 75 percent of the full calendar.

“It’s been a lot, and it’s starting to wear me down.

“I still love playing darts.

“But it’s the traveling, the constant pressure, the whole package—that’s what’s exhausting.”

Schindler faces Jonny Clayton in the first round of the World Matchplay this weekend.

The 28-year-old is looking to end a three-match losing run in Blackpool after failing to advance past the first round over the last three years.

Former UK Open quarter-finalist Schindler is confident he can end the barren run at the Winter Gardens.

He added: “No one in the Pro Tour bracket wanted to see Luke Humphries or Luke Littler next to their name.

“I didn’t get either of them, so I’m not complaining.

“Clayton’s a tough opponent, of course, but I believe I’ve got a real shot.

“The first time has to come at some point. Why not now?”
