CAMERON MENZIES has got to “believe in himself” according to oche star partner Fallon Sherrock.

The Ayrshire ace returns to the big stage on Friday in the UK Open in Minehead.

Menzies, 35, hit the headlines after breaking down in tears in the World Championship at the Ally Pally two months ago.

But Sherrock is convinced that he has got the ability to go all the way.

She said: “He did well at the Worlds. He has definitely got the confidence.

“His A game is absolutely phenomenal. I think he just needs to believe in himself. I am doing the best I can.

“He wants it so much that is where you see all the emotions. When he’s confident and all that, and he is flying, that is when you will see all the results.

“He wears his heart on his sleeve – but I think that is what everyone likes. Because it’s a characteristic.”

Menzies lost out to Leonard Gates at the Ally Pally and burst into tears. It was later revealed that his dad Ricky had just undergone triple heart bypass surgery.

Fallon admits it was hard to watch him so emotional on stage. She added: “I think so and it was just horrible with the crowd and stuff. But then no-one knew. We didn’t say anything.

“His dad is a lot better now. He’s home now. He’s basically getting back to normal now. It was a bit of a scare at the time. He’s getting there. He’s a lot better.”

Sherrock was awarded with an MBE last year and she believes Luke Littler will be the next in the sport to get a gong.

But on her medal, she added: “I don’t even know where it is! I’m joking. It’s on the side. I think it is only me and Trina (Gulliver) for the women.”

She believes that every darts World Champion should get one. She continued: “I definitely think so as well. I got it because I helped change it in women’s sport.

“Littler is definitely going to get one because he has helped change it dramatically. I do think that when someone changes something in the sport so much they should get something.”
