MICHAEL VAN GERWEN has dismissed a potential boxing match between Jake Paul and Gerwyn Price ahead of their Premier League showdown.

Three-time World champion Van Gerwen faces Price tonight (Thursday) on Night Nine of the major in Berlin.

‘The Green Machine’ currently sits third in the Premier League and is only one point above Price who is fourth with two nightly wins in the competition.

Seven-time major winner Price recently challenged Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul to a boxing match

Paul expressed interest in the fight but MVG was left unimpressed at the bout.

He told Sportniews.nl: “What a ridiculous thing.

“I don’t like it. I don’t see that fight happening at all.

“Why would Jake Paul care about someone like Gerwyn Price? No chance, not now, maybe not ever.”

World No. 12 Price was knocked out in the quarter-finals of the European Darts Trophy last month by Michael van Gerwen despite averaging a remarkable 107.

But Van Gerwen believes that match outcome will not phase Price.

He added: “I hope it gave him a little knock, but he’s mentally strong enough to handle that.”

The Dutchman reached the final on Night Seven of the Premier League and was unlucky to lose 6-4 to Luke Littler as he averaged a stellar 101 and checked out 50 percent of his doubles in defeat.

‘Mighty Mike’ also admitted he is not bothered by the winner of the 2026 World Championship receiving a £1 million prize.

He said: “If you look at the sport’s popularity and the way inflation has risen over the past six years, this was bound to happen at some point.

“It was already a lot of money, and now it’s doubled. But at some point, the money doesn’t matter anymore. I’m all about that title—that’s the best motivation.”
