WADE WANTS A GOOD WORLDS!

25/11/2023 By Phil Lanning

JAMES WADE joked that he would like to play well during Christmas…for once!

The Aldershot hotshot has won almost all the game has got to offer apart from the World Championship.

Wade, 40, will need to ride the wave of usual Ally Pally chat at this time of the year and being dubbed ‘the best player never to have won the world title’.

But the 11-times major winner makes it clear he is in a happy place with his wife Sammi and young sons Arthur and Alfred.

And he remains typically aloof about his chances of finally winning the world title.

He said: “I’m doing alright. We’ll let all the people doing their bits and I’ll carry on doing my bits. I’ll probably get a little bit further than some of them.

“I just play one tournament at a time. If it carries through and goes into the next tournament, if it doesn’t I’ll have a great Christmas with my family. But it would be nice to have one Christmas when I play well.

“My boys are the most important thing in my life by a country mile.

“I think Arthur watched me for the first or second time last week against Luke Humphries. As soon as I turned up at home he said ‘daddy you lost’.

“I was like ‘yeh I lost’. He run up across the drive and jumped on me. I said ‘it’s not all bad’. He said ‘no trophy this time’.

“People who know me have seen this side of me and it’s probably unbelievable in some ways.

“I’m so soft with him and I enjoy the simplistic things in life which I should have done ten years ago. I’m so happy and my boys are the best thing in the world.

“None of my children will play darts, 100 per cent. I will put all my powers into them not to do this.

“I want them to have a stable job with no pressure or stress hopefully.”
