WILLIAMS REVEALS GOALS ON THE OCHE

SCOTT WILLIAMS is a born entertainer who thrives under the spotlight — and reckons he’d be a top-12 player if every event was played on the big stage.
‘Shaggy’ reached the quarter-final of the Players Championship Finals and semi-finals of the World Championship last year.
World No. 37 Williams had his best season on the floor since 2022 as he made the semi-finals of the Players Championship 10 and 15 events this year.
The 35-year-old now hopes to be more consistent on the ProTour in the hope of featuring in more major tournaments.
He said: “The floor is game is hard because there’s no crowd and no atmosphere in there, there’s nothing I can work off, nothing I can thrive on.
“I’m figuring out a way to put that aside and get the best out of myself and when I find that I’ll be on the TV more!
“I joke with people that if all events were on the stage I’d be top 12 easy, because of who I am.
“I react to the crowd, it’s the way I am! I‘m so nonchalant, and that’s how I look at the game!
“I love being on the stage, it’s where I like to be, and it’s where I deserve to be a lot of the time – but if I’m not performing I’m not going to get there!”
Williams is aiming to secure a future spot to compete at the World Matchplay and World Grand Prix.
He added: “Especially with the new money increases all over the place, it’s even bigger than it was.
“Now, I can get the £15,000 without having to win my first game – which is tough sometimes when you’re playing some of the best amateurs in the world!
“I go into the year saying that anything else is a bonus at the minute! Hopefully in a couple of years, I’ll be looking at the Matchplay and the Grand Prix!”
Lincolnshire thrower Williams won his first ProTour title in 2022 at the Players Championship 17 in Niedernhausen.
