SHERROCK QUESTIONS STARS PULLING OUT THROUGH ILLNESS

FALLON SHERROCK revealed she has played through darts matches while on her period despite not wanting to be at the oche.
The former Grand Slam quarter-finalist admitted she remains unconvinced when players withdraw through illness after battling through her own physical struggles.
It follows Michael van Gerwen pulling out of Night Three of the Premier League due to health problems.
Gerwyn Price had fitness issues and was forced to sit out the Poland Masters.
World No.4 Van Gerwen also withdrew from the Players Championship 5 and 6 and was absent for the first European Tour event as well.
The Dutchman made his return on Night Five of the Prem but suffered a narrow 6–5 defeat to Price in Belfast.
Sherrock argues it is difficult to sympathise with competitors who refuse to play when they are unwell.
She told the Double Tops podcast: “If you’re ill like Michael [van Gerwen] has been, of course it’s hard to play it down.
“But you’ve got to try and play your best and just get on with it. For women we have periods and the cramps that go with those. People don’t understand how hard that sort of stuff is.
“I don’t really want to be up there playing darts but I’ve got to go out and do it. I have to go out on stage and play well otherwise I’m going to lose. It’s just part of being a darts player.
“So when people say they’re sick or are feeling under the weather, I don’t really buy it.”
‘The Queen of the Palace’ expressed full confidence that Luke Littler will stage a roaring comeback in the Premier League.
10-time major winner Littler currently sits seventh in the table after four weeks and has won just one game.
She added: “He’s sitting back and putting a challenge on himself – 100 per cent!
“I can see him really coming out all guns blazing in the latter weeks and almost surprising everyone.
“At the moment people think ‘oh he’s not doing well in the Premier League’ and I just think he wants to almost go ‘just you lot wait’.
“I don’t see any way he doesn’t make it to the O2 in London. He’s biding his time, will come out all guns blazing and do what we know he does… win.
“Things might not be going great now and I know he got a lot of boos in Belfast but he won’t care – he looks like he’s trying to play the pantomime villain a little bit and wind people up.
“He’s got a character now, which he didn’t really have when he burst on the scene. I think he’ll play on that more and more.”
