VAN GERWEN “OUT OF SORTS” IN PREMIER LEAGUE

MICHAEL VAN GERWEN is majorly “out of sorts” at the oche, according to ex-pro Wayne Mardle.
World No.4 Van Gerwen has failed to win a game in the Premier League since finishing runner-up on Night Two in Antwerp.
The Dutchman was dispatched 6–1 by Luke Humphries in Cardiff on Night Five, adding to his woes as his scoring left him struggling.
Mardle believes MVG is struggling to find his rhythm on the big stage and has raised concerns about his throw.
He said: “I said before a dart was thrown, I think Michael van Gerwen is out of sorts.
“Since winning and becoming runner-up, I know he has had a bit of a torturous time as well. He wasn’t well the week before last.
“He was really edgy last week, he was edgy this week. The darts are not coming out of the hand right.
“They are going in at different angles and he is not grouping them well generally.
“That is worrying times for him. I just thought Luke Humphries was too good for him.”
Van Gerwen currently sits fifth in the table, one point outside the play-off places.
It marks the first time since the start of the weekly invitational tournament that he has fallen outside the top four.
Van Gerwen returns to action at the UK Open in the fourth round on Friday evening.
