LITTLER EYES THIRD SUCCESSIVE BELGIAN DARTS OPEN CROWN
19/03/2026 By Aaron Nijjar
LUKE LITTLER aims for a THIRD straight Belgian Darts Open title as a potential round two clash with Raymond van Barneveld looms.
‘The Nuke’ is undefeated in ELEVEN matches at Wieze and looks to extend that streak on March 20-22 at the Oktoberhallen arena.
World No.1 Littler already picked up the opening European Tour crown of the season at the Poland Masters in dominant fashion.
Littler has won almost everything the sport offers in just 26 months, with the European Championship the only major trophy missing.
Elsewhere, five-time world champ Van Barneveld will make his first appearance on the circuit this year as he takes on Boris Krcmar in round one.
Two-time major winner Michael Smith begins his title challenge against former Grand Slam semi-finalist Mickey Mansell in what promises to be a fiery clash.
Scott Williams and Ricky Evans will collide in another eye-catching tie, whilst Daryl Gurney and Ian White lock horns.
2022 champion Dave Chisnall has been pitted against French trailblazer Thibault Tricole as Krzysztof Ratajski meets Spanish star Cristo Reyes.
Former Masters champ Joe Cullen will play a Host Nation representative for a place in round two – with the final four Belgian competitors being confirmed on Thursday.
The top 16 players on the PDC Order of Merit are set to join the competition in Saturday’s round two.
World No.2 Luke Humphries will play either Dirk Van Duijvenbode or Lukas Wenig while Michael Van Gerwen could potentially meet Smith in a repeat of two previous Ally Pally finals.
Premier League table topper Jonny Clayton faces a tough opening assignment against either European Darts Trophy winner Wessel Nijman or Sebastian Bialecki.
Belgian No.1 Mike De Decker aims to go one better than last year’s final as he begins his campaign against Niels Zonneveld or Finland’s former World Cup semi-finalist Jani Haavisto.
Following the conclusion of round two, the last 16 return to the stage on Sunday afternoon, before the tournament culminates with the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final in a bumper session on Sunday evening.
