CHISNALL: I’VE BEEN RUBBISH
20/03/2026 By Aaron Nijjar
DAVE CHISNALL admits he has been playing “rubbish” over the past season.
‘Chizzy’ made a triumphant start at the Belgian Darts Open, averaging 94.59 to dispatch Thibault Tricole 6-2 and book his place in round two.
World No.23 Chisnall endured a difficult 2025 campaign, failing to win a title or reach the quarter-finals of any ranked major event.
Chisnall has also shed a significant amount of weight in recent months but insists his dip in form is not linked to losing the timber.
He said: “I don’t blame losing the timber. I have just been playing rubbish for a good year.
“I am trying to get back to my best. I am practicing a lot more at home now so I can only get better.
“It can’t get any worse. I felt good at the beginning even though I lost the first leg. I got into a good lead at 5-1.
“I was relaxed. I think I got too relaxed to be fair. I just took my foot off the gas a little bit. Job done into tomorrow. That is the main thing.”
The St Helens thrower has made a steady start to the year reaching the quarter-final of Players Championship Two and Five.
Chisnall will face Chris Dobey in Wieze on Saturday afternoon, with a place in round three of the European Tour event on the line.
