DURRANT WENT TO BED CRYING DURING WINLESS PREM SEASON

22/03/2026 By Aaron Nijjar

GLEN DURRANT admits he went to bed “crying” every night during his winless Premier League campaign.

‘Duzza’ lifted the title in 2020, but the following year suffered a dramatic collapse, losing all NINE of his matches.

The former BDO world champion revealed he felt embarrassed and struggled with the torment he endured throughout the season.

He told the Double Tops podcast: “When I got zero points in 2021 it only took place over 10 nights because it was during COVID.

“It was really tough losing every night and I would go to bed every night crying.

“I’d achieved everything I wanted to but getting beaten like I was embarrassing and very hard to take.

“I would see I was playing Gezzy [Gerwyn Price] or Michael van Gerwen and I would honestly think how would I get through this?

“It’s hard and it’s not fun losing but this will be the making of a dart player.

“It’s not always positive and it’s not always easy being in the Premier League.”

Josh Rock has endured a similar run in this year’s weekly roadshow, sitting on zero points after seven weeks of action.

Durrant has urged Rock to stay calm and use the tough spell as a learning curve.

He added: “So Josh is getting that week in between where, as you just mentioned there, he’s winning games.

“He’s got to a semi-final of the UK Open. So, things are going okay for him.

“So, you mustn’t panic. This is a test of his character. It’s horrible, it’s awful, but this is the making of a dart player.

“It’s not always positive, it’s not always great. He has to deal with it; he has to come out fighting.”
