ROCK’S PREMIER LEAGUE STRUGGLES ARE PURELY PSYCHOLOGICAL

JOSH ROCK’S Premier League struggles are purely “psychological”, according to ex-pro Matthew Edgar.
‘Rocky’ sits bottom of the table on zero points and is still searching for his first win in the competition.
World No.7 Rock also suffered a crushing 6-0 defeat to Gerwyn Price in Dublin, averaging just 84.21 in a one-sided contest.
But Edgar believes the Northern Irish star is more than good enough for the big stage and says the issue is all in his head.
He told OLBG: “He is Premier League quality. This isn’t a player who has been put into an event that he is not capable of performing in.
“Is he out of form? No. He’s playing well when he is playing everywhere else. It is just the Premier League.
“Is this a case of Josh Rock, where he has wanted it for so long? He did an interview last year where he said he is never considering himself an elite player until he is in the Premier League.
“Is this a case of him now having to try and prove himself at a new level? This surely is psychological.
“It’s not ability because he has got that. His bottle has been tested over the years. He has answered every question he’s ever had in his career and exceeded expectations.
“The fact that he is still performing — it has got to be psychological. There is no other reason.”
Rock faces Jonny Clayton on Night Eight in Berlin this Thursday, and another defeat would extend his losing streak beyond what Stephen Bunting endured last season.
The Antrim thrower has impressed outside of the weekly roadshow, reaching the semi-finals of the UK Open and the quarter-finals of the World Masters.
