ASPINALL EXPLAINS MR BRIGHTSIDE SWITCH

NATHAN ASPINALL got rid of his walk-on song Mr Brightside on the way to winning the German Darts Grand Prix.

‘The Asp’ ditched the fan favourite anthem ahead of dispatching Kevin Doets 7-2 in the semi-final at Munich.

World No.14 Aspinall chose to have Lose Yourself by Eminem as his entrance music.

A fan suggested on social media that the change may have been an error by organisers.

However, Master of Ceremonies Philip Brzezinski quickly clarified the situation with a response on X.

He wrote: “It wasn’t a mistake.

“Nathan has wanted that song for a while now, and today we gave it a try for the semifinals.”

The Stockport star did reintroduce the tune by The Killers prior to beating Danny Noppert 8-5 in the final.

The track also rang out around the Kulturhalle Zenith as Aspinall celebrated his victory and lifted the trophy.

Aspinall also opted to drop Mr Brightside back in October at the European Championship.

The two-time major winner did so ahead of a comfortable 6–3 first-round victory over Maximilian Czerwinski.

He said at the time: “It really did get me pumped. Obviously, everyone loves Mr Brightside but I hear it 490 million times a year.

“I’m a massive Eminem fan and I wanted to put something a little different on at the start.

“The DJs are amazing on the Euro Tour, so who knows — we might introduce it to Sky and ITV.”
