ASPINALL TO DITCH MR BRIGHTSIDE WALK-ON SONG

NATHAN ASPINALL has revealed he will ditch his iconic “Mr Brightside” walk-on song during the final year of his career.
The world No.14 has become synonymous with the famous anthem by The Killers, which has become one of the most recognisable entrances in darts.
But The Asp admitted he already knows the track he wants to replace it with when the time comes to bring the curtain down on his career.
He told the Double Tops Podcast: “Everyone associates Mr. Brightside with me.
“I’ve kept him in the top 40 for the last 10 years. You know what I mean?
“I might be called Nathan Aspinall, but I walk down the street and, oh, Mr. Brightside. It grates on me.
“Everyone absolutely loves it and it’s part of the darts now.
“I think there’s certain walk-ons that are iconic. Obviously, Michael’s, Phil’s, Barney’s, Gary Anderson, Adrian Lewis, there’s certain ones that you can never change.
“And I can’t change it until it’s my final year, and I will change it to Lose Yourself.
“Yeah, a million percent.”
Aspinall has experimented with changing his walk-on music on a handful of occasions during his career.
Earlier this year, he swapped the fan-favourite tune for Lose Yourself by Eminem at the German Darts Grand Prix during his semi-final clash with Kevin Doets, before going on to win the title.
The Stockport star also made the switch at the European Championship last year in a comfortable 6-3 first-round victory over Maximilian Czerwinski.
Aspinall also revealed his main motivation in darts is securing his family’s future rather than chasing silverware.
He added: “I don’t care about trophies.
“I do this game because it’s my job and I don’t ever want my kids or me to have to ever worry about money.
“Honest to god, I couldn’t care less about the trophies.
“Of course, I want to win tournaments and I’ll be buzzing to add another trophy to my trophy cabinet.
“But, for me, it’s very much a case of trying to make as much money as I possibly can over the next 10 years.”
