DOETS REVEALS LOVE HAS TRANSFORMED HIS DARTS CAREER

KEVIN DOETS admits finding love has helped transform both his darts career and his life away from the oche.
The Dutchman reached the final of the Austrian Darts Open last weekend before narrowly losing 8-6 to Josh Rock.
‘Hawkeye’ also claimed his maiden ranking title at Players Championship 13 and now sits just outside the world’s top 32.
Doets says his relationship with girlfriend Bianca Rangel has played a huge role in his recent rise.
Speaking during a Premier League Darts broadcast on Viaplay, Doets was asked what love can do for a darts player.
He laughed: “Apparently a lot. It also depends on how she approaches it.
“Life as a professional is tough for me. I’m away from home a lot and now I have a woman who supports me in that.
“Not just that, she’s always nagging that I need to practice more.
“So I’m doing that now as well. When you’ve found a good love, it definitely helps.”
Rangel understands the demands of professional darts better than most after her father represented Brazil internationally for several years in the World Cup.
She first met Doets during a Pro Tour event in Hildesheim, Germany.
Doets explained: “Her father played the Challenge Tour there beforehand and she stayed an extra day to watch.”
Alongside changes in his personal life, Doets has also revamped his professional set-up after moving house earlier this year.
He continued: “Since January I’ve been living in a new place with a good set-up.
“I practice pretty much every day, flat out. Lots of practice hours these days.
“I’ve now got a room where I can play darts without being distracted. I didn’t have that in my old apartment.”
Doets reflected on his breakthrough ProTour triumph and revealed how much the moment meant to him.
He said: “That first title was special.
“But also making a TV final in the same week makes it extra special.
“Everything is going really well at the moment and now it’s all coming together.”
