EVANS: ‘I PLAYED ABSOLUTE DOG POO’
21/05/2026 By Aaron Nijjar
RICKY EVANS admits he “couldn’t grip or throw a dart properly” after another miserable week on the PDC circuit.
The Kettering ace endured a nightmare double-header at Players Championship 17 and 18, crashing out in the first round of both events.
Evans, 35, suffered defeats to world-class duo Stephen Bunting and Ross Smith while averaging just 77 in each match.
The former UK Open semi-finalist did not hold back in a brutally honest social media post after his latest struggles.
He said: “Thank god this weeks over, couldn’t grip or throw a dart properly…doesn’t help when it’s my job.
“2 players champs draws against 2 world class players & I played absolute dog poo basically giving them easy wins… that’s not me.
“Today 2 Euro qualifiers….a little better but still nothing anywhere near the world class player I know I am.
“Thankfully a few days off now..no superleague or county as I don’t get asked anymore so darts are staying in the draw until Tuesday…a few days celebrating with the most beautiful person in the world…..I can’t wait.
“Another Facebook post Matthew.”
Rapid Ricky has endured a frustrating campaign by his usual high standards and is still yet to reach the third round of a ProTour event in 2026.
The world No49 also withdrew from Players Championship 16 in Leicester due to exhibition commitments in Belgium, bringing an end to his remarkable run of 520 consecutive floor appearances since earning his Tour Card in 2013.
