30 YEARS OF AWARD-WINNING JOURNALISM IN DARTS

LITTLER FAVOURITE TO WIN SPORTS PERSONALITY

29/01/2024 By Phil Lanning

LUKE LITTLER is now clear favourite to win the Sports Personality of the Year Award 2024.

The Warrington wonderkid has wowed fans as he reached the World Championship final and then followed it up with a nine-darter and then winning the Bahrain Masters.

Littler, 17, then saw his seven-match unbeaten run ended by Michael van Gerwen in the Dutch Masters on Saturday night.

But just three days before his Premier League debut in Cardiff – and a world final re-match with Luke Humphries – Littler has been revealed as already the front runner for another huge prize.

He is now 5/1 from 8/1 and the clear favourite to pick up the Sports Personality of the Year Award 2024.

Three candidates sit behind Littler in the running at 8/1, footballer Harry Kane, snooker legend Ronnie O’Sullivan, as well as one of cycling’s greats, Mark Cavendish.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “For those of you who thought the PDC World Championships was a fluke for Luke ‘the Nuke’, he’s since reached two finals against behemoth of the sport Michael Van Gerwen, and shows no signs of stopping.

“After narrowly losing out this time against Van Gerwen in the Netherlands, having beaten him in Bahrain, Luke Littler’s odds have been slashed to 5/1 from 8/1 to win this year’s Sports Personality of the Year.

“Harry Kane and Ronnie O’Sullivan are next in the betting alongside cycling veteran Mark Cavendish, all at 8/1.”
