JAMES WADE defeated Luke Humphries 10-9 to set up a semi-final clash with Josh Rock at the UK Open.
‘The Machine’ smashed in 10 maximums, averaged 99.89 and hit over fifty percent of his doubles in a superb performance.
World No.1 Humphries put up a stellar display himself and lost with a 102.08 average.
Following his victory, Wade was full of praise for Humphries and believed he won the match due to his timing and experience on the oche.
He said: “I was weak at the beginning and towards the end was grateful Luke missed opportunities and opened the door for me.
“Grateful to win the game. I deserved it as well. I threw six 180s in the last three legs. That’s better than average right?”
He added: “It’s all about timing. As soon as young dart players realise it’s not about the big 100 averages, it’s about timing things at the right time.
“Unfortunately, they’re going to learn off me. It’s going to be more often.
“I played Luke who is the best player in the world at the moment. Luke will probably win another two or three TV majors this year.”
