Fallon Sherrock has heaped praise on Beau Greaves and backs her to continue winning after her impressive run at the UK Open.
Greaves nearly made history at Minehead as she beat three male competitors on Friday, only to be stopped in her tracks by World No.1 Luke Humphries in round five.
‘Beau n Arrow’ opened their match with glorious 126 and 124 finishes to leave Humphries reeling.
Women’s World No. 1 Greaves also led 7-5 but ‘Cool Hand’ held his nerve to get over the line and clinch the match 10-7.
Yet, Greaves proved she has the quality to compete in the men’s game in the same manner as Sherrock, who famously became the first woman to win at the men’s PDC World Championships in 2019.
‘The Queen of the Palace’ believes Greaves who is currently 109th in the PDC Order of Merit will fly up the rankings.
She said: “We’ve been keeping an eye because we all know Beau’s potential, we all just want her to go and succeed.
“It’s so good for the women’s game and I’m like ‘come on Beau, keep going!’.”
When asked if the 21-year-old’s ascent might ease the spotlight on her, Sherrock said: “100 per cent. I’ve been saying for ages I need someone like Beau to come through because Beau’s got the ability to play like these men do.
“I just think it’s nice to have the pressure off because everyone expected me to just go up and win every time, but it doesn’t work like that.”
She added: “To have someone like Beau coming through now, she’s doing it on the ladies’ tour, development tour and challenge tour, and hopefully now she can do it here [at the UK Open].
“Imagine if she won it here, how good would that be for the women’s game.
“She just loves playing darts. She knows her ability and she comes here, she’s not scared of anyone. Why would she be?”
The Doncaster thrower has made history as the first player to top the rankings in the Development Tour, Challenge Tour, and Women’s Series Order of Merits simultaneously.
Her performances earned her a place in the second Players Championship event of the season on the main tour and she made an impression there too.
Beau’s first victory on the PDC ProTour came in some style as she averaged 102.7 to beat Josh Rock 6-5 in the first round in Wigan last month.
She is also a three-time Lakeside World Champion, having won the title for the last three years.
