ROB CROSS admits he is feeling better after taking a break from the oche to battle illness.
‘Voltage’ showed no signs of rust in a composed 6-4 win over Ricardo Pietreczko at the German Darts Grand Prix.
World No. 6 Cross had to withdraw from the previous European Tour event in Riesa due to sickness.
Former World champ Cross returned in style on Sunday afternoon in Munich as he averaged 97 and nailed six of his eight double attempts in a clinical display.
Cross told DartsNews: “I feel much better now, two weeks ago I wasn’t good but that’s just life.
“We get sickness, problems. I’ve been very grateful that it’s been a quick fix. I’m on some tablets at the minute and they’re making me feel much better.
“So very grateful to come out in these great places and still perform.
“I’m enjoying darts at the minute, couple of weeks ago was a little bit different for me but at the minute I’m really enjoying playing.”
Four-time major winner Cross took out two stellar ton plus checkouts against German number two and home favourite Pietreckzo.
He added: “I think having the support the pressure is on Pietreczko there.
“I feel for him there as he has to deliver but at the same time pressure is on me up there.
“It was really enjoyable and nice to get the win.”
The talented Kent thrower picked up his TENTH Players Championship title earlier this year after winning Event One.
However, since then Cross has struggled to find consistency on the oche making only one quarter-final appearance.
Classy Cross averaged a whopping 110 in a 6-5 defeat to Luke Littler on Night 11 of the Premier League in Rotterdam.
The 34-year-old currently sits seventh in the table.
But signs of a resurgence from Cross are visible and if his last couple of performances are anything to go by it is inevitable before he picks up his first Premier League nightly win of 2025.
Cross will now face Krzysztof Ratajski today (Monday) in round three.
