LUKE HUMPHRIES wants to be battling for World No1 with Luke Littler for TEN YEARS!
The ex-World Champ has dominated the sport with ‘The Nuke’ over the past two seasons with eleven major titles between them.
But current World No1 Humphries, 30, believes that his friendly rivalry with the teen sensation, who is World No2, could last for another decade.
He revealed to BoyleSports: “It’s going to be tough, Luke has got such a high level and I’ve got to keep to that.
“I know I have the level to match him as well.
“It’s going to be exciting. One of the good things about sport, it’s nice to see two people fighting it out for World No1s and titles.
“If you’ve just got one player that shoots off and no one can get near them or no one can catch them, it’s not fun.
“I feel like hopefully me and Luke have a good battle trying to be World No1 and maybe go on for five or ten years, we chop and change. That would be an exciting thing to be part of.
“My goal is always to try and win one of the four majors before the world championship to make sure you have that good feeling before the Worlds.”
Humphries will bid to regain his World Grand Prix title on Monday night against Nathan Aspinall in Leicester.
‘Cool Hand’ surprisingly missed out in last year’s final to shock merchant Mike De Decker.
He’s also not worried about losing his World No1 spot to Littler after the Worlds this year.
On potentially slipping to World No2, he added: “I don’t think it will change much. I don’t think all of a sudden I’ll want to practice double what I usually do.
“Where I am and what I’m doing. I won four majors in 2023, two majors last year and two majors this year.
“If I keep doing that for another 10 years, I’ll see myself as a very successful dart player in the end.”
